 | Lake Fort Scott is located just a few miles Southwest of Fort Scott, Kansas. Lake Fort Scott is approximately 360 acres and offers outstanding fishing plus plenty of space for recreational boating. Lake Fort Scott is owned by the City of Fort Scott but the lake's shoreline is developed for private residences.
In the past, Lake Fort Scott was a quiet fishing lake, but since the completion of the four lane Highway 69 from the Kansas City Metro area to Fort Scott the lake has become the destination for lake getaways and vacation homes. Lake Fort Scott is located just over an hour South of the Kansas City Metro.
Fish that you can expect to catch while fishing at Lake Fort Scott include: Bluegill, Black Bullhead, Channel Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Walleye, Green Sunfish, and Black Bass. Lake Fort Scott is open to the public for all to use. Lake Fort Scott property owners pay a "Lake Frontage Fee" of $150.00 to the City of Fort Scott on a yearly basis. There is a double lane boatramp located at the West Entrance of Lake Fort Scott, multiple floating docks for the public to fish from, fish feeders, picnic and park areas that are also open to the public for daily use.
